Oh, very interesting. I think I should build such a box, too. One thing that's keeping me from taking more pictures is that I'm often unhappy with the background etc, and that box is the perfect solution.
Your pictures are awesome! Makes me think the "toy" prompt isn't as uninspiring as I had thought first.
The box works for small stuff, and allows me to put lights where I need them while minimizing reflections and making the background exactly as I would like it. It does work well.
I get a lot of inspiration from toys for shooting. I'll post more of them later, some with some serious photoshop...
