Nature walks have green AND growth

Today we went for a walk from apartment to vacant lot!

Photos taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XSi; some photos adjusted slightly in Photoshop, some not. I definitely welcome criticism, as I'm trying to improve my photography skills!

I don't think there's a more gorgeous shade of green in nature than a mallard drake's head. That's wonderful!

It is pretty amazing. I see them all the time, so it's easy to forget how really pretty they are.

I'll have to go to the lake near us that had shovelers last fall--they're really striking, and a bit goofy.

I really like the picture of the blossoms. Nice use of depth of field, good composition with the diagonal branch.

It is definitely my favorite, even though I can't shake the feeling it's been taken 38945834585 times before. I imagine I will eventually get over having a long lens, heh.

Thank you! I feel like it's kind of cliched, but I'm still sort of in love with having a long lens and being able to get bokeh.

Mmm, pretty - the buds/blossoms, especially. And now you've piqued my interest: freaked out bunny? I'm so there. :D

The bunny did its best impression of a rock, and disappeared as soon as we looked away. There are a bunch of raptors in the area, so I imagine it's extra-vigilant.

The last photo is lovely! The composition and colours and the focus are all just right.

I know it's rather anthropomorphic of me to say it, but I really love the expression on that drake's face. That sort of 'you're really doing this? Really? *eyebrow*.'

Hee! I think it was more like a "You better not get any closer, weirdo human" look.
