I have not been doing very well lately and consequently have not been keeping up with [community profile] shutterspeed, so this challenge is pretty much made for me. Sigh.

One for decay/collapse, and a few more beyond the cut...

Railings: The white and peeling railings of an abandoned house, with ivy creeping in the background.

(I am loving my new camera, by the way!)

Still Waters Run Deep: Looking out over the Pacific Ocean from the headlands on a calm day.

Water!

Toes: Mr Shadow the cat asleep on a pillow, photographed at a low angle and with a shallow depth of field so that his toes, stretched towards the camera, are in crisp focus, and his body is blurred.

Animals!

Skunk Train, Morning: A steam train leaving the station, a web of tracks in the foreground.

Roads and trails! (Tracks!)

Madeline: A piece of driftwood on a beach with the name 'Madeline' carved into it.

The depth of field and perspective on the cat photo is wonderful! I love the looming great paws in sharp focus, and the bright, slightly blurry tummy.

Your "Decay" shot is very evocative, too--sad and yet somehow also comfortable.

And text found in such an unexpected place is worth a picture by itself, but the composition of the shot around it is gorgeous, with the black shadow and the surprising reds in the background driftwood, all helping make the central drift-log look white like a big bone.

Lovely set.
