Yesterday:  Growth

Checked on 'my' robins yesterday.  Mama's family is growing.  There's now 4 eggs in the nest.  Since I first saw them everything's been rearranged to accomodate the 4th egg and they've all been turned.  :)

Today:  Green

A Blue-Crowned Motmot from the free-flight area of one of the local zoos.

The colors on that little bird are splendid!

I have to admit I was beyond geeked when he landed pretty much right in front of me and I was able to get a fill flash on him to bring out his crown. (And the keeper was on-site and said that with as bright as the room was, flashes were fine, the birds didn't mind. :)

Very pretty bird! And very sharp picture. I never have this much success when trying to shoot my cats.

Thanks! Like I was telling the poster above, I was able to use my flash to bring out his colors and use a very high shutter speed.

The keeper that was in feeding them was pretty funny. She saw me turning in circles and checking out all the doors and finally asked what I was looking for. I said the 'no flashes allowed' sign and she said that the room was so bright and that the birds were so mellow that flashes were fine. I got some of my best shots that day when they moved close enough for my built in flash to be of help. :)

So, even if you have good lighting, try using your flash on the cats. :)

They just don't want to sit still when I bring out the camera. *g* Also, the flash does awful things to their eyes. *shudders*

The bird picture is amazing, it's got such lovely colours and it's so clear and sharp.

Apparently it nested in the glovebox of his tractor. What are these robins thinking?
