How about monuments? - could range from gravestones to big honking tribute or historical pieces.

I forget who suggested it before, but I still like the idea of the opposites-in-one-shot prompt.

Other ideas: contrast, industrial or industry, everyday objects, circles.

Can I ask what you mean by photography icons? I'm reading that a couple of different ways.

I meant "100 by 100-suitable pictures related to the act and/or art of taking photographs". (Although photos honoring important photographers could also work, but is probably a smaller set.)
