Fundraising Gingerbread House for CASA

...from the exceptionally talented deli staff at our local food coop, Willy Street Coop.

Most of the gingerbread houses were shingled entirely in shiny candy, but the Coop took a more "natural" looking approach with graham crackers. I thought the maple sugar candy decorations interspersed with star anise were particularly exquisite.
The CASAs are court-appointed special advocates who volunteer to act in the "best interests of the child" in custody issues in U.S. courts. That people are making cakes to raise money for this work shows that family health is low on our national scale.
