So of course he was super-active, which was cool, but in a dark environment, which meant needing a long shutter.  Then he finally stopped, but his nose was behind the plant.  Gr.

If anyone's interested, it's a Green Tree Boa, shot with a macro lens.  Some of the scales back where he has the white spots, really do look awesome in full size.

Hee. Plants are kind of a natural reaction to the challenge... I just like to go around and break the mold whenever I can. ;)

I'm hoping to get some better ones of his whole face when I go back in a week or so. :)

Thanks! That's made from two shots I took at the Shedd Aquarium a few years ago when they had their huge lizard exhibit. He was sleeping when I came up to him, so I took a shot. Then without moving anything but his eyelid, he woke up, so I took another shot. All I had to do after that was make an animated .gif of the two to make him wink.

Um... he's in the zoo, so there was glass. :) But thanks. It's a neat shot. I'm going to try him again when I go back in a few weeks for the opening of the new Bear/Wolf/Eagle exhibit. :)

For those who haven't realized, I shot this at a zoo. I was able to mitigate most of the issues of having glass between me and the snake, but my angle on the guy was limited.

But, yeah, he was lit from above in the enclosure, so the light passed through his protruding eye. Wild, eh?
