This picture is the product of pure chance. Since I didn't want to lay down flat on the cold ground, I just plopped the camera down in front of the grass and clicked and hoped for the best.

I love this! The thing that intrigues me most is where the focus is; it's sometimes hard to trick point and shoots into not focusing right smack dab in the middle, and my eye is very much pulled to the crossing shadows at the left of the image. Supercool.

It's the shadows from the basement banister. I really liked how they looked.

I'm in two minds about autofocus, on the one hand it makes taking pics like this possible but on the other I would like to have more control over it a lot of the time.

It's all about training your eye to discover the possibilities I think.

I really like how even though the grass is right in the middle my eye is pulled toward the far right.

I'm still a bit in awe of how well this picture turned out. I don't think I could ever compose a picture like this conciously.
