I would love to pet them, but they definitely aren't above scratching people who get too close to their enclosure. On one of our trips to this zoo we watched a lady climb over the wooden barrier and walk up to the chain link fence so she could stick her camera into the bobcat's face to take a picture. We overheard her talking about how he'd scratched her later on, and ended up leaving our contact information with the gift shop just in case they needed a witness. :(
