Thanks! After slicing a pound of mushrooms, I got out my camera and just stuck it down amongst them and started clicking. I need to remind my old film-conserving self that it's a-OK to shoot a hundred photos if I want to, in order to find a good one.

In this case, the auto-macro did a nice job at least once.

Hee! And I was looking at these and thinking, man, mushrooms are kind of...gross-looking when you get right up in their gills.

LOL! I'm pleased with my little Sony automatic's macro capability. It has surprised me several times.

I only recently came to understand that mushrooms aren't really plants--that they occupy a different order of life from the plant kingdom, and are not all that well understood.

They really are alien and fascinating. Also yummy.
